Day 005 – Animatic Editing – PhotoShop CS6
I recently grabbed a copy of CS5.5 with Adobe’s free trade up to CS6 after using PhotoShop CS6 for the past week. Over all the upgrade feels subtle but complete; the interface fades into the background more and touches like layer filtering really improve workflow. When it comes to editing the animatic the biggest change is that folders are no longer timeable but instead fit the duration of the layers they contain. At first this was confusing but it actually simplifies the workflow a bit. Two other great additions; dragging layers onto each other creates a video group, vastly simplifying editing, and scrubby zoom, which is really smooth when working with a touch tablet. (There should be a plug for the Samsung Series 7 Slate in here, it really is awesome, but more on that another time.)
